Technical Presentation on Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV) Silicone Coating
Our CEO, Imad Kanouni, presented a paper about Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV) Silicone Coating during the International Conference of Doble Clients. The paper presented was recently titled as the featured Technical Paper for the Month of July.
The International Doble Clients Conference, the premier event for the power industry, took place on March 26-31, 2023, in Boston and brought peers together to discuss asset management, storm readiness, operational problems, and diagnostic techniques to optimize operations and guarantee a dependable power supply. Eight Client Committees with unique expertise created the curriculum. Only companies with an existing Doble Service Agreement (DSA) and Doble Service and Equipment Agreement (DSEA) are eligible to attend.
Imad Kanouni is an engineer with over 20 years of expertise in many areas of the electrical business. Having found an interest in the high voltage sector and began dealing with the specific challenges of every electrical utility: power outages, leakage current, and wildlife-induced blackouts, he since then produces knowledge-packed blogs and technical papers educating colleagues in the industry on different mitigation measures.
The featured paper presented by Imad, Technical Presentation on Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV) Silicone Coating, mainly focuses on the following topics:
1. Contamination Challenges
2. Stages of Flashovers
3. Consequences of Flashovers
4. Mitigation Approaches for Flashovers
5. Components of RTV Coating
6. Effectiveness of RTV Coating
7. Application of RTV Coating

As insulator flashover is a costly and damaging issue in the electric utility industry. Out of the several mitigation methods that have evolved to minimize and avoid these incidents, RTV coating has proven to be an effective and cost-saving method when long-term protection is of great consideration.
Midsun Group Inc., based in USA, continues to establish global adjustments to the changing needs of power industry by providing a range of RTV silicone coatings in highly contaminated areas through its Midsun High Voltage Insulator RTV Coating or MIDSUN HVIC. This type of RTV coating is constantly tested globally by many high voltage laboratories in conformance with the international standards.
