Midsun E/Paintable Insulation is a one-part paintable silicone coating that protects and insulates vulnerable phase-to-phase and phase-to-ground areas. This versatile coating can be applied at  electrical substations, train rails, distribution lines, etc.

 

E/Paintable Insulation is a unique formula of silicone rubber technology offering high dielectric strength in a paintable insulation.

It adds insulation to any structures made with metals, capacitors, transformers, and cable accessories When applied to the surface of electrical insulation such as FRP Barrier Boards, E/Paintable Insulation imparts water repellency and arc-track resistance. It features superb unprimed adhesion to galvanized metal and most plastic materials. An application of 30 mils (dry) on metal surfaces provides 10kV insulation strength.

THE CHALLENGE

Harsh environmental conditions and pollution areas such as industrial, desert and coastal regions lead to excessive leakage currents. High voltage insulators’ surface conditions in such areas causes pollution flashover and power system outages.

This has resulted in an increase need for maintenance to ensure a reliable supply of power. Further complicating the situation is an increased electrical congestion and the financial costs of shutting down a supply or network line for extended periods of time to carry out the maintenance.

Midsun HVIC Energized was developed back in the 90s’ as a response for the difficulties in scheduling lines outages by the largest utilities across USA due to their large transmission capacity and electricity demand.

 

Midsun HVIC Energized is the only coating offered that allows for energized applications

It is a Room Temperature Vulcanization coating, uniquely formulated to allow utilities to perform quality maintenance for pollution induced outages, without having to experience costly shutdowns. The non-flammable carrier solvent permits applied safe application under live conditions to all equipment. Its unique and patented formulation provides a highly hydrophobic surface for its entire life.
