HOW TO AVOID ANIMAL-INDUCED POWER OUTAGES?
The best solution to ensure the protection of the equipment and power lines, as well as the animals, is to insulate the bare metalwork with animal-outage protective covers and create an environment for wildlife to roam substations and overhead lines without damaging themselves or the equipment.
Common animals that cause power outages when touching phase-to-phase or phase-to-ground are birds, cats, rats, snakes, monkeys, squirrels, and bats. Their interaction with electrical equipment can cause electrocution, faults, and even wildfires.

E/FUSING TAPE
Self-fusing silicone tape which forms a void-free electrical insulation protection system when applied to any connector, bus or cable.
E/Fusing Tape is offered in various widths to make application on any size equipment easy.
E/Fusing tape offers up to 15 kV phase-to-ground insulation with a 2/3 overlap and a 10% stretch. A second 2/3 overlap of tape will achieve a 30 kV phase-to-ground insulation rating.

The first wrap will supply 15kV phase-to-ground insulation when applied using a 10% stretch with a 2/3 overlap. 30kV insulation can be achieved by a subsequent wrap.

HIGH INSULATION E/FUSING TAPE
High Insulation E/Fusing Tape can be used on various odd shaped connectors, bus or cable to offer protection from animal contact induced outages.
Similar to our original Midsun E/Fusing tape, Midsun HIGH INSULATION E/Fusing tape is self fusing and allows void-free electrical insulation.
High Insulation E/Fusing tape offers up to 35 kV phase-to-ground insulation with a 2/3 overlap and a 10% stretch. A second 2/3 overlap of tape will achieve 50 kV phase-to-ground insulation.

These tubes are used to protect a variety of distribution and substation equipment at 20kV phase-to-ground. The E/Insulation is manufactured with a split seam to allow for an easy application without the need of breaking electrical connections.
There is no heat shrinking required for application and no tools other than a cutting tool for proper length are needed.

30° ANTI-NESTING BARRIER
Up to 25 kV phase-to-ground. Designed with a 30° angle to discourage or prevent bird nesting and animal contact. It is approved for energized application.
FLEX BARRIERS
The design allows the barrier to slide smoothly between adjacent skirts of an insulator and then hold the barrier securely in place.
It forms a long term barrier on substation equipment such as disconnects, switch insulators, arrestor and bus support terminators, and insulators.

These pins are used to secure Midsun molded covers. They are easy to install even while wearing insulated gloves, with a phase-to-Ground from up to 25kV and their life expectancy matches the cover. Each bag contains 50 pins.
E/SILICONE TIE WRAPS
Silicone tie wraps can replace temporary plastic tie wraps. Silicone ties offer a long life expectancy, a secure hold and an easy on/off application. Each bag contains 10 ties.
E/ANIMAL CONTROL STRIPS
These strips are a stainless steel mitigationbarrier that prevents animals from climbing over substation fences and birds roosting on cross arms.
